Privacy Policy

FocusTube ("we", "us") is a Chrome extension that hides distracting parts of YouTube. We built it with a simple principle: your browsing is yours. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what data the extension and this website do and do not handle.

The short version

• The extension runs entirely on your device. It does not send your browsing history, watch activity, or search queries anywhere.
• We do not use analytics, advertising, or third-party trackers in the extension.
• We have no user accounts and store no personal profiles.

What the extension stores

To remember your preferences, the extension saves the following using Chrome's local storage (chrome.storage.local), which stays on your computer:

• Whether Focus Mode is turned on or off.
• Whether a valid license key has been entered.
• The license key text you entered, so you don't have to re-type it.

This data never leaves your browser except in the one case described below.

License verification

If you purchase a license and enter a key, the extension sends only that license key to our verification endpoint to confirm it is genuine and not refunded. No other information — no URLs, no video titles, no identity — is included in that request. If your device is offline, the key is validated locally instead.

Permissions we request

• storage — to save the preferences listed above on your device.
• Access to youtube.com pages — so the content script can hide the feed, recommendations, and comments. The extension reads and modifies the YouTube page layout locally; it does not transmit page contents.

Payments

Purchases are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details. Stripe processes your payment information under its own privacy policy. We receive only the information needed to deliver your license key (such as your email address and the fact that a payment succeeded).

Email

After a successful purchase we email your license key to the address you provided at checkout. We use this address solely to deliver your key and to respond to support requests. We do not sell it or send marketing without your consent.

Children

FocusTube is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
